Democrat Shawn Harris, a retired general and congressional candidate, is rallying voters in his bid to unseat Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene. In a passionate address, Harris criticized Greene for prioritizing personal gain over her constituents and called on voters from all political backgrounds to unite against her.
“Marjorie Taylor Greene does not want to represent you anymore,” Harris said. “She simply wants to get rich off the back of each and every last one of you.”
Harris highlighted his performance in the last election, where he garnered more votes than any Democrat in the district since 2012. He credited his success to a coalition of Democrats, independents, and “common-sense Republicans” who resonated with his campaign’s focus on leadership.
“We scared Marjorie Taylor Greene,” he said, noting that Greene is now at odds with her own party. “Even the Republican Party has told her, ‘We don’t want you anymore.’”
Harris urged supporters to mobilize in every way possible, from sending postcards to knocking on doors and encouraging voter registration. He emphasized the importance of grassroots efforts to defeat Greene, framing the campaign as a fight for the diverse communities of Northwest Georgia.
“I’ve been at the protests for our veterans. I’ve been protesting for immigration up in Dalton. I’ve been all over this state fighting for you,” Harris said. “Just like I told my soldiers in Afghanistan, I will be with you every step of the way.”
Harris outlined his commitment to serving all constituents, including farmers, veterans, educators, and senior citizens. His platform prioritizes unity, leadership, and addressing the needs of everyday Georgians.
“This campaign is about everyone,” Harris declared. “Let’s go out here and do everything we have to do to win this election for everyone.”
Looking Ahead
As Harris builds his campaign, he is calling for collective action to overcome partisan divides and address the challenges facing the district. With Northwest Georgia set to be a battleground in the upcoming election, Harris’s message of leadership and service aims to resonate across political lines.
Harris concluded his address with a rallying cry: “Let’s go do it. I look forward to seeing you out there.”
