The Emmy nominations are in, and one show is standing well above the rest. Apple TV+’s mind-bending drama Severance has captured the spotlight with a staggering 27 nominations, making it the most nominated program at this year’s 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, set for September 14 in Los Angeles.
The show, which blends corporate satire with psychological thriller, has clearly struck a chord with both audiences and critics — and now, Emmy voters.
Close behind is The Penguin, a dark and gritty Batman spinoff that earned 24 nominations. Two other heavy hitters, The Studio and fan-favorite The White Lotus, each picked up 23 nods, proving this year’s race is packed with powerhouse contenders across genres.
Drama Takes Center Stage
In the Outstanding Drama Series category, Severance faces tough competition from hits like The Last of Us, Slow Horses, and The White Lotus. Also in the mix are Andor, The Diplomat, Paradise, and The Pitt — making this one of the most stacked lineups in recent Emmy memory.
Severance star Adam Scott earned a well-deserved nomination for Lead Actor in a Drama, while co-star Britt Lower is up for Lead Actress. The show also cleaned up in the supporting categories, with nods for Patricia Arquette, John Turturro, Zach Cherry, and Tramell Tillman — further cementing its dominance this season.
Big Laughs in the Comedy Race
On the comedy side, The Bear, Abbott Elementary, Hacks, and The Studio are leading the charge. What We Do in the Shadows, Only Murders in the Building, Shrinking, and Nobody Wants This round out the nominees for Outstanding Comedy Series.
Jeremy Allen White returns to the spotlight with another nomination for his role as Carmen in The Bear, while Quinta Brunson, Ayo Edebiri, and Jean Smart are all recognized in the Lead Actress category.
Limited Series, Big Stars
The Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series category is full of dark, emotional, and gripping stories. Front-runner The Penguin is joined by Adolescence, Black Mirror, Dying for Sex, and Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.
Hollywood heavyweights are headlining these roles — Colin Farrell, Jake Gyllenhaal, Cate Blanchett, and Michelle Williams are just a few of the big names in this year’s acting lineup.
